Esteemed U14 coach Jimbo Johnston has always said “the best way to ski faster is to use the mountain as a coach.”

Thanks to mother nature dumping a thick coating of the fresh white stuff on our beloved hill, Northwood and Winter Term athletes alike have been furnished with some of the best training conditions we’ve seen in years. While the training hill and terrain parks are in fantastic shape, it’s always good to shed the confines of the piste and hit the fresh stuff.

On Sunday, the Whiteface Mountain Ski Patrol dropped the rope and opened the Slides, our favorite backyard off-piste playground. After an action packed weekend spent scooping up podiums left and right, Winter Term athletes shot right in.

Needless to say, the Slides can be a pretty darned good coach!
