BELLEAYRE

Freeride: part-time ski and ride coaches

Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Working with athletes from ages 8 and older on the fundamentals of skiing as it relates to the terrain park. A background in competitive freestyle skiing and knowledge of the current state of the sport is a plus. Work schedule will be primarily during the weekend (with some weekdays and holidays) beginning in December through March. Pay is commensurate with experience and benefits include a seasons pass at all three Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) mountains (Belleayre, Gore, Whiteface). Part-time alpine coaches

Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Working with athletes from ages 8 and older on the fundamentals of skiing and alpine ski racing. A background in competitive alpine skiing and knowledge of the current state of the sport is a plus. Work schedule will be primarily during the weekend (some weekdays and holidays) beginning in December through March.  Pay is commensurate with experience and benefits include a seasons pass at all three Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) mountains (Belleayre, Gore, Whiteface). U14 alpine coach

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
-Working with U14 alpine athletes on the fundamentals of skiing and alpine ski racing.
-Managing a small group of U14 athletes within the training group and having the basic feel and understanding of setting proper courses for both training and racing under the U14 guidelines.
-Establish a season long plan with training group.
-Setting expectations at the beginning of the season with athletes and goal setting and overall athlete management.
-Assist with equipment needs by understanding industry guidelines.
-Communicate effectively to athletes, coaches and parents.
-Take video and provide proper feedback during training and race day.
-Set and manage training environments.
-Encourage each athlete to improve their technical ability and have fun!

Work schedule will be primarily during Fridays and weekends (some weekdays and holidays) beginning in December through March.

Level 100 US Ski and Snowboard Certification is a plus.

Part-time Race Crew/Event Staff 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to): making sure the event or training environments are set and ready for athletes and officials, shoveling, resetting gates, shuttling equipment, overall course maintenance of the racecourse and/or breakdown of the course/venue at the end of the day. Must be able to ski and carry up to 50 pounds. This is a paid position. Other benefits include a seasons pass at all three Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) mountains (Belleayre, Gore, Whiteface). GORE

WHITEFACE

Full-time Head Freeski Coach

Below is a summary list of experience requirements and duties:

  • US Ski and Snowboard/USASA Certified Level 200 or above
  • Experience with developing training and competition plans for novice through elite level park athletes
  • Coaching experience at all levels of competition from regional US Ski and Snowboard and USASA through national level
  • Solid understanding of Freeski pipeline
  • Familiarity with dryland training environments including management of local summer pool program and development of off-season training travel camps
  • Background and understanding of common judging systems, terrain park features & development, and competition course design
  • Strong skills in organization, planning, and documentation of skill development (video and written)
  • Strong communication skills as it relates to athletes, parents, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, coaches, parents and competitors in challenging situations
  • Strong team player with proven leadership skills
  • Ability to manage assistant coaching staff including overseeing their professional development.
  • Experience and knowledge of the snow sports industry including contacts within key organizations – US Ski and Snowboard, USASA and FIS
