NYSEF Named Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Club of the Year

WILMINGTON, NY (May 23, 2023) – U.S. Ski & Snowboard named the New York Ski Educational Foundation (NYSEF) the 2023 Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Club of the Year at its award ceremony on May 17, 2023, in Park City, Utah.

The Club of the Year award is presented to the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Competition Club in each sport which has distinguished itself in providing direction to young athletes through high-level competition programs resulting in athletic success.

“NYSEF is at an exciting time in our Nordic programming,” said John Norton, NYSEF’s Executive Director. “Thanks to the Olympic Regional Development Authority’s major investments in the Olympic Jumping Complex and Mt. Van Hoevenberg’s Nordic facility in Lake Placid, our athletes have access to world-class venues to train on every day.”

U.S. Ski & Snowboard noted that NYSEF athletes of all ages had a successful year, walking away with several podiums in ski jumping and Nordic combined. To cap off a successful season, a NYSEF Nordic combined athlete won a medal at the World University Games. Additionally, two athletes, Kai M., and Tate F., were named to the USA Nordic Junior National Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping Teams

“Our athletes had an incredible season, and Kai and Tate’s nominations to the Junior National teams was icing on the cake,” said Head Ski Jumping/Nordic Combined Coach Colin Delaney. “We’re so honored that U.S Ski & Snowboard recognized the hard work and dedication of our club with this award.”

NYSEF Receives the Paul Bacon Award for Second Consecutive Year

NYSEF also received the Paul Bacon Award for the second year in a row. This award is presented to an individual or group for the most significant contribution to U.S. Ski & Snowboard in the field of competition organization in the past season.

The Paul Bacon Award for event organization recognized NYSEF for the wide array of events the club produced during the 2022-23 ski season, including the FISU World University Games and the NCAA Ski Championships. This is the fifth time NYSEF has received this award.

“Thanks to the tireless dedication of our staff, coaches, and volunteers to make each event a success,” Norton added.
