2020 has been a rollercoaster for us all. All things considered, I am pleased with how far we have come – from the March shutdown to a busy holiday week at all venues. A HUGE THANK YOU to our staff, athletes and parents for working together to keep the program running smoothly.

Thanks to the snow making improvements at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, our cross-country and biathlon programs began on-snow training mid- November – earlier than any other program in the Northeast. In jumping, the youth and development athletes have been practicing on the K20 and K48 regularly and the plan is to launch off the K90 in early 2021.

Our alpine and freeride programs were delayed a week due to weather and has since been back in action with the help of Mother Nature. Some of our full-time alpine athletes and staff participated in successful training camps in Copper Mountain, CO and Sunday River, ME as the rest of the staff at Belleayre, Gore and Whiteface prepped their training centers – refining our operating procedures with efforts to have a seamless transition back to snow.

This has been an impressive start to the season and it is made possible because of YOU –  the athletes, families, staff, and our community of supporters.

The athletes have been setting the precedent for what it takes to stick to a strict training regime while also abiding by health and safety protocol on the hill, riding the chairlift, in the park or on the trails. Families are also adapting to this changing landscape – cooperating, arriving on time and modifying their schedules for the success of the program. Our community of supporters has provided financial contributions towards both our COVID – 19 relief efforts and our overall mission to provide financial assistance to help athletes of all ages to reach their potential in snowsports.

Whether it be your time, talent or financial contributions – YOU – the NYSEF Community – have provided the ingredients for us to persevere in this ever – evolving world of uncertainty.

Before we close the year 2020, please consider making a contribution before the year ends.
