The NYSEF Freeride program is excited to name former NYSEF athlete, Jake Wenn (Jay, NY), as Assistant Freeski Coach for the 2016-17 season.

The son of former National Sports Academy founder and headmaster, David Wenn, Jake grew up skiing at Whiteface Mt and attended NSA before moving to Colorado to join the Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy.   After graduation, Jake spent two years as Freeski Coach for Vail’s Rookie Team where he received his USSA and USASA coaches certifications.

During his competition ski career, Jake competed at USASA Nationals, USSA Junior Nationals, multiple USSA Revolution Tour events, the Aspen Open, and the Dumont Cup.

According to Freeride Program Director, Mike Kirchner, “Jake’s infectious attitude and passion for the sport is apparent in everything he does.  More importantly, he fully understands the effort it takes to ascend to the next level in competitive park skiing.  I’m looking forward to seeing the effect he has on our young, up-and-coming athletes.”
