Congratulations to Saranac Lake native and NYSEF athlete, Kaylen Reiley for making the Project Gold Camp! Project Gold Camps are progressive camps designed for elite level talent development in halfpipe, slopestyle and skicross. The top junior athletes in the country are selected to train together with the United States Freeski Team coaches in a private training venue.* Selection criteria is based exclusively on performances during the period from November 1, 2020 through April 15, 2021. Athletes must be between ages 12-19 for Halfpipe and Slopestyle and 15 – 20 for Skicross. Athletes in each discipline are selected based solely upon their competition results for each discipline in selection events during the selection period.

As a result of Kaylen’s competitive achievements during the 2021 season, he has been invited to the Project Gold Camp. *Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Camp made the difficult decision to make this year’s Project Gold Camp virtual with several organized live virtual sessions that will not only give Kaylen the exposure to top level coaches and U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes, but also provide information and resources that will be instrumental as he works towards competing at the highest level. The camp will run from September 26 to October 26, 2021 with one virtual session each week.

Kaylen is currently studying and training full-time with Stratton Mountain School (SMS) in Stratton, Vermont. Great job, Kaylen!

HERE is the letter to Kaylen regarding his selection to this program.
