UNH Student-Athlete of the Week: NYSEF Nordic Alum, Scott Schulz
Scott Schulz receives the Service Credit Union Student-Athlete Spotlight award for the week of Feb 17-23 at UNH!
Scott placed 10th in the men’s Nordic 10K classic with 33 points (25:07.) at the Williams Carnival, which was held Feb 14-15 in Lake Placid, N.Y. at Mount Van Hoevenberg. He also placed 2nd in the 3x5k relay with teammates Bryce Hartman (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) and Will Bodewes (Durango, Colo.) His placements helped UNH total 723 points to finish in fourth place behind Middlebury (855), Vermont (843) and Dartmouth (752).
He placed 5th place the week before at the Bates Carnival for men’s freestyle 10k with 39 points (23:37.4) helping the ‘Cats score a season high of 698 points. Scott took 4th in the men’s 10k freestyle skate at the Colby Carnival at the beginning of the month. Overall, Scott has a had a strong month of February.
The men’s and women’s ski teams are back in action at the EISA Championships. The alpine squad will race at the Snow Bowl and the Nordic squad will race at the Rikert Nordic Center.
