Lake Placid Community Day: June 2, 2019
COMMUNITY DAY 2019 INVITES NON-PROFITS
AND SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS TO SHOWCASE THEIR WORK
Lake Placid Community Day is set for Sunday, June 2nd, 2019, from 1-5pm at the Lake Placid Horse Show Grounds. We’re throwing a big party, just for us. This is going to be a good ol’ fashioned country picnic style day with live local music, kids’ games, food and drink, all FREE to the Lake Placid community.
Our mission statement is to present an annual event to celebrate the community and all the hard work that goes into our legacy. To both continue and foster the volunteer spirit that we will pass on to future generations. To provide exposure for our service and not-for-profit organizations. To welcome new members to our community providing an easy introduction to the many opportunities there are to participate in the life of the community. To celebrate the community and the people who make it great. By the community, for the community.
As part of this day we will be providing a tent and table space to showcase the local nonprofit and service organizations. We are inviting you to claim a table, to bring your materials, sign up volunteers, and have your own ambassadors at the event. There is no charge to participate, making this a great opportunity to reach out to the community and recruit new members. If you would like to reserve a table, please respond to LakePlacidCommunityDay@gmail.com
If that weren’t enough, we will also be presenting the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year award. Each year we honor one adult and one youth who have made significant contributions to the community. In keeping with the volunteer theme, we invite you to select your own Volunteer of the Year who you can highlight and display at your table. If you would like to have your best volunteers considered for the Distinguished Volunteer of the Year award, please submit your nomination to Bethany Valenze by May 4. Submissions can be emailed to bethany@roostadk.com or mailed to ROOST, Attn. Bethany Valenze 2608 Main St. Lake Placid, NY 12946. Email is preferred.
This party is the second year of an annual volunteer-produced event and is a joint initiative of the Lake Placid/North Elba Community Development Commission and ROOST.
