Calgary, Alta. (Feb. 23, 2020) – After a couple weeks off the Canadian Ski Cross Team traveled to Russia for the second to last World Cup race of the season. Showing no sign of rust, points leader, Kevin Drury (Toronto, ON), who has already clinched the crystal globe, came in 2nd on the fast course.

Drury felt good with his skiing today and especially enjoyed racing in front of the Russian fans, “The crowd was so much fun and it was awesome to race here. That was an awesome day, I had my best start of the day in the finals. I thought I was skiing pretty well.” reflected Drury.

Drury was joined in the men’s big final by Brady Leman (Calgary, AB) who finished in 4th. On the women’s side Marielle Thompson, currently sitting in third in the points, came in 4th.

Abby McEwen (Edmonton, AB) and India Sherret (Cranbrook, BC), qualified for the small final and finished sixth and seventh respectively. With her sixth place finish McEwen has tied her personal best World Cup finish. On the men’s side Chris Del Bosco finished in 10th, Zach Belczyk in 28th and Kris Mahler in 34th.

Canada has been on the podium at every World Cup this season, something that is impressive not only because of the sheer number of podium finishes the team has so far, 23, but also with the number of team members who have been on the podium, eight. The team looks to finish the season on a high in a couple weeks from Veysonnaz, Sui.
