Youth Nordic challenge
The annual devo xc and youth jumping fundraising challenge is back by popular demand! The youth jumping challenge will take place on February 5 and the devo xc challenge will take place on March 5 - enough time to save those legs for the nordic combined athletes. Last year both teams collectively raised over $5,000 for the next generation of nordic athletes!
NYSEF Winter Term
NYSEF Winter Term has a new home at the High Peaks Cyclery (HPC) Guide houses located in Lake Placid. Winter Term provides aspiring student-athletes with the opportunity to pursue their athletics at an advanced level while continuing remotely in their home school’s academic curricula, providing an avenue to excel academically and athletically. Athletes enroll for a minimum of one month to a maximum of four months. This program is open to athletes of all ages with a recruitment focus on U14 athletes. Learn more at www.nysef.org/winter-term.

Podiums are back in action and NYSEF is stepping up its game at all venues to make sure our top competitors come home with some special swag when they race at Belleayre, Gore or Whiteface! Dare To Dream Scholarship
NYSEF is raising funds for the Dare To Dream Scholarship Fund in the month of December and we would love for you to participate at any level you are comfortable.
NYSEF and my family will be hosting the annual Chairman’s Holiday Party, outdoors, at John Brown Farm in Lake Placid on Tuesday, December 28 from 4:00 – 6:30 PM to support the Dare To Dream Scholarship Fund. Tickets include apre ski style food, adult and youth drinks, music and more – what a great way to celebrate the holidays and kick off the ski/ride season with an emphasis on being outdoors – something we all are fully capable of doing safely. Alums and Olympians, Andrew Weibrecht, Lowell Bailey and Thomas Biesemeyer have already RSVPed to attend!
If you and your family are able to participate, please consider purchasing a ticket – 100% of ticket sales support the scholarship. If you are unable to attend and still want to contribute to the Dare To Dream Scholarship Fund, consider making a donation of any size – your support at any level is meaningful and every donation regardless of size will receive a commemorative gift!
Last year, we provided $135,000 in scholarship support – something we all should be proud of! However, we need to continue to add to scholarship funds like the Dare To Dream to keep competitive athletes skiing/riding without the burden of costs.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 in December – THANK YOU for helping us reach this goal!

Ski Like A Girl
NYSEF is excited to partner with the brand, Ski Like A Girl during the Womens Eastern Cup Series at Whiteface in December 18 - 21 (happening now)! Ski Like A Girl encourages and supports girls everywhere to follow their dreams, and it is their goal to give back. In addition to the brand having a presence during the series, NYSEF is educating all of their members (U10 +) about the importance of being confident, following your snowsports dreams and the importance of philanthropy. ski jumpers and nordic combined athletes early podiums
Some ski jumping athletes were in Steamboat Springs, Colorado competing in the Winter Start and US Cup Opener. The Winter Start event is hosted annually by the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and is the first on-snow event nationally in the 2021/22 season in ski jumping and nordic combined. Some top finishes were Kai M. who placed 2nd for U16 Women and Jack K. who placed 5th for U16 Men in the HS75 competition on December 11. Kai also placed 3rd in the nordic combined competition.
Both Kai and Jack will be attending NYSEF Winter Term Program which allows aspiring junior athletes the opportunity to access top-tier training and coaching opportunities, while continuing remotely in their school’s curricula through one-on-one tutoring support.

Belleayre Freeride in the Trampoline Park
With Big Snow unavailable this fall, Freeride changed gears and attended Bounce Trampoline Park. This was helpful for both air awareness and team building the team will continue to do in the off season. “I found bounce training was helpful for getting me more comfortable in the air and with the other athletes. This got me exited to ski with them this winter, whether they were on skis or board, because it showed we were all there to have a good time and improve at our sport,” says freeride athlete, Owen P. Also, we welcome new freeride coach, Matt Leifeld!
