Kyle Penny named U14 Alpine Assistant Coach

Kyle Penny joins NYSEF as Assistant Alpine U14 Coach. Kyle skied at Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) and graduated in 2014. At GMVS, Kyle gained a passion beyond being an athlete and wanted to be a part of ski programs that developed his foundation as a winter sport enthusiast at an early age.

He began coaching soon after graduation for the Ski Roundtop Race Club (located in Lewisberry, PA) working with athletes from U14 – U19 level and managing the on hill operations. At Roundtop, Kyle began learning the skills and gaining the certifications and confidence to make him a qualified coach. When asked what was the most exciting thing about working with NYSEF, he replied, “I am most excited about the new opportunity as a whole, from living at the Lake Placid Training Center to being surrounded with the wealth of knowledge of the rest of the staff to help me grow as a coach.” Kyle will be working with the NYSEF Winter Term Program. This program allows aspiring student-athletes the opportunity to pursue their athletics at an advanced level while continuing remotely in their home school’s academic curricula, providing an avenue to excel academically and athletically. Winter Term Program Director, Beatty Schlueter said, “I had the opportunity to coach Kyle as an athlete during his time at GMVS and I am thrilled to witness his skiing career come full circle and working for NYSEF as a coach and dorm parent.”

Kyle will be working alongside Head Alpine U14 Coach, James (Jimbo) Johnston. “I am eager to be a sponge and soak everything from him (Jimbo) while learning new ways of coaching and connecting with the athletes,” commented Kyle.  Jimbo added, “he brings a young, fresh and athletic outlook that will only enhance our successful program.”

During his free time, Kyle gets on his bike in the USA Crits series with a Professional / Elite team called Support Clean Sport / Guttenplan Coaching. When he is not on his bike, he enjoys spending time with family and being on the beach.

Welcome to the team, Kyle!
