Fiscal Year End Message from Executive Director, John Norton
August 30, 2021
To those who supported our summer events – THANK YOU. Whether you attended a regional party,* placed a bid in our auction, or volunteered your time, we truly appreciate your engagement during these warmer months.
This summer was a busy one not only for NYSEF families and friends, but also for the venues where we operate. Here’s the scoop on some of the latest facility upgrades:
At Belleayre, there have been major on-hill upgrades including new water lines and snow guns. The race hill, Dot Nebel, is expected to be one of the first trails to open this winter.
At Gore, snowmaking has been updated on the race hill, Echo. New man made snow will be better, faster and more consistent.
At Whiteface, there have been substantial lift and snow-making upgrades to make sure athletes can have early access and great coverage on our race and training hills.
Because of the state of the art renovations to the Nordic venues in Lake Placid, they will be hosting the Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Olympic Trials on Christmas Day!
Winter enrollment is live, and we already feel a great sense of excitement from our current and new families to get on snow. In order to provide the best opportunities to our athletes, NYSEF will continue to help grow our scholarship funds to keep families in the sport, while simultaneously investing in talented staff and regular improvements to our training environments. Whether it is your time, talent or financial contribution, your ongoing support helps ensure that NYSEF can continue to be a leader in snowsports.
