Letter from Alpine Program Director - John Norton:
Hello, NYSEF Friends and Family:
As many of you know, I am the new Alpine Program Director at NYSEF at Whiteface Mt. I am excited to contribute to NYSEF's role as a top notch ski program!
For those that don't know me, I grew up skiing in the NYSEF program at Gore Mountain and later graduated from Northwood School . I have been coaching alpine ski racing full-time for over 10 years at both NYSEF and GMVS in Vermont . I've mainly worked with FIS women, but have also coached many athletes ranging from J5 to collegiate level. I'm looking forward to getting to know and working with all of you!
Looking ahead, I am in the process of finalizing our full-time coaching staff as well as beginning to contact our weekend coaching staff to plan out the season. We have a few things planned for the alpine program this fall:

Fall On-snow Camp: As in the past, NYSEF will hold a Fall Ski Camp at Mount Sainte Anne. This is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes at Gore and Whiteface to get some on-snow time before we have sufficient snow locally. More details will be posted on the website and e-mailed in September, but the dates will be November 19-24, 2010.
I will have more information about the program in the upcoming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at johnn@nysef.org, or my cell (518.524.1403) if you would like to speak to me.
Thanks, see you all soon!
John
P.S. If you know of any Alpine families that don't get this e-mail, please pass it along. We're in the process of updating our database and I don't want to miss anyone!
