Updates from Belleayre Program Director, Jim Catalano

From Program Director, Jim Catalano: The NYSEF Program at Belleayre is off to a strong start in its inaugural season! Enrollment is up about 25% over last season and the interest in our program continues to grow. Our race hill and parks have never been in better condition. Thanks to the efforts of the new mountain management, our snow-making and grooming teams. We’re putting together some awesome skier/boarder-cross track in anticipation of  the upcoming USASA Catskill Mountain Series events.

We had a full house for our holiday camp and had our annual potluck (complete with coach-brewed local beer)! With the growth in our programs comes more qualified coaching staff. Our coaches have had a number of in-house education opportunities and our athletes have been all over the state competing with some great results.

As many of you know, our January Excelsior and Empire Cup races went off smoothly. Many thanks to our teammates from Gore who came South to help us out! Last but not least, the Belleayre Mountain Racing Association (our old “PTA”) donated NYSEF jackets to every U10-U19 alpine athlete this season! Seeing 80+ of them zipping around the hill is getting everyone psyched about the Belleayre-NYSEF programs.

Come and visit us soon!
