2006-2007

CROSS-COUNTRY

COMP TEAM / JUNIOR RACING (ages 14 & up) FULL YEAR

This is a year-round program designed for racing at the regional and junior national level.

Training focus includes endurance, strength, speed, agility, power, balance, mobility and flexibility. Technique is an emphasis and on-going project. Goal setting and planning are a major part of this team. Healthy learning through sport experience includes time management, sportsmanship, self-discipline and determination. This program provides a solid platform towards continued excellence at the collegiate level and beyond. Education includes nutrition and the mental aspects of sport. Equipment maintenance by the athlete is required.

Four organized mid-week practices during the winter with weekend travel. Travel to weekend NY and New England Junior Olympic Qualifiers is fundamental at this level. Additional weeklong training and racing trips.

COMP TEAM / JUNIOR RACING (14 & up) WINTER

This is a winter-only version of the full year program. Summer training sessions are offered for an additional fee.

 

PREP TEAM / JUNIOR RECREATIONAL (ages 14 & up) WINTER

This is a winter program for athletes who are beginning to think cross-country skiing year-round and would like a supplement to their high school team. This team is also for J3 (ages 12-13) Trailblazers who have developed the skills necessary for more advanced skiing and racing. Additional skiing on non-Prep days is recommended. Fitness focus includes improving overall athletic ability through endurance, strength, speed, agility, balance, mobility and flexibility. Technique improvement and awareness is stressed at this level.

Equipment maintenance by the athlete is required.

Program runs from 12/2/06 – 3/18/07. Two organized mid-week practices and a weekend supplement to your high school team. Travel to weekend NY Junior Olympic Qualifiers, High School Invitationals and Empire State Games Qualifiers is recommended.

Summer training sessions are offered for an additional fee.

 

TRAILBLAZERS (ages 13 & under) WINTER

This program promotes cross-country skiing enthusiasm through basic skills, games and play on skis. Activities include air-rifle biathlon, orienteering, relay races, adventure days and having a good time. Additional skiing on non-Trailblazers days is encouraged. Practices focus on becoming a good athlete through endurance, strength, agility and balance. Kids will learn both classic and freestyle techniques.

Program runs from 12/2/06 – 3/14/07. Two organized mid-week practices on Tuesday from 3:15 – 4:30 pm at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and Wednesdays from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Olympic Ski Jumps. Weekend practice on Saturdays from 10am – 12noon with some longer adventures days. Weekend Bill Koch League races are optional.

Additional summer adventures are offered for an additional fee.

TRAILBLAZERS BEGINEER (ages 11 & under 1 st time) WINTER

Same as the Trailblazers program, but for 1 st year athletes
