Staff:
The staff of NYSEF Alpine Camps is comprised of our fulltime JI-IV coaches from both Whiteface Mountain and Gore Mountain as well as some participation from current US Ski Team athletes who are alumni of NYSEF. Camp director, Thomas Erhard was a US Ski Team coach for 7 years and has worked with both the Swedish Ski Team and the Austrian National Ski School. Many of the concepts taught at our camps come from international experience.
Who should attend?
Campers come from all over the US and Canada. At least one year of racing experience is recommended, but not required.
Lodging and Meals:
Lodging at the Mt. Hood camps will be at Huckleberry Inn in Government Camp, Oregon. Meals are included.
Transportation:
All on site transportation from and to the airport, to the camp location as well as each day to the mountain will be provided. Airfare is not included in camp prices. We travel to Portland, Oregon in the early AM flights from Newark. A limited number of seats have been booked. These will be awarded at first come first serve basis. See flight info below.
Dryland training and Fun Activities:
J3 and older:
Certain days will be set aside for conditioning based on knowledge and practice used by the US Ski Team Sports Science department. The goal will be to introduce campers to the necessary components of ski racing fitness, but not to completely tire out the campers. To keep things fun and the legs fresh, certain days will be group hikes or trips to local swimming hot spots and games.
J4 and younger:
Activities will be games and other fun activities that introduce the concepts of agility and balance, but keep things fun focused rather than objective oriented.
