For the few people who don’t know who this is; Horst Weber was the Executive Director of NYSEF for 18 years and is currently a NYSEF Board Member. His passion for the sport brought families to NYSEF year after year. Enrollment was on the rise, kids were having fun and parents were coming back year after year. Not much has changed, but Horst was definitely the “pied piper” that made NYSEF what it is today!
Horst knew every J5 athlete and their parents, he traveled to all races for J3’s to J1’s all across the Northeast (and even country when the opportunity presented itself) to see the athletes race, he is legendary among the ski coaches of the world. He is well known for his thick German scent and tough love, tell it like it is tactics.
 Horsts main goal for NYSEF was to get as many little ones skiing as possible no matter what the cost. If a athletes couldn’t afford skis Horst would find some. “Ahh! Just get the kid up there” he would say. The Horst Weber Scholarship awards funds to NYSEF kids that need help with enrollment or program cost so young athletes can pursue ski racing, snowboarding, Nordic or free-ride. This scholarship fund is critical to the success of many athletes. Skis, passes, race registration, ski camps and coaching fees add up fast. For some athletes it’s not an possibility. So please help us give the gift of skiing to a young athlete.
