2008 NYSEF New Zealand Summer Camp Information

 

Following the highly productive and successful 2007 NYSEF New Zealand Camp we will be conducting a similar camp in August 2008.

 

Session Dates:

August 1-24, 2008 Price: $3450

  • Airfare not included.  Price on NYSEF flights are approx: $1200 from LA / $1800 from Albany

 

Camp Content:

  • On snow skills assessment.
  • Technical free skiing drills will progress into Tactical gate skiing progressions developed help experienced skiers improve their performance.
  •  
  • Training lanes are directly adjacent to World Cup teams from Norway, Austria and Germany.  Bode Miller will also be training on the same lanes.
  • Each skier will be grouped by both age and ability so that the progression meets the needs of the skier.
  •  
  • 1 to 7 coach to athlete ratio (MAX)
  • Daily video analysis with Dartfish software; the same stuff used by the US Alpine teams.  This will include a video cd/dvd copy of their camp progress to take home.
  • Regular discussions on technique, tactics and life as a ski racer.
  • Off Snow activities including dryland training, games and discovery of the beautiful mountain settings around the camp.  Days off will include bungy jumping and other extreme sport options including Go Karting.
  • Introduction to goal setting session.  Learning how to enjoy the process as much as the outcome.
  • FIS racing opportunities exist both at the beginning of the camp and at the end of the camp.  Entry is based on USSA and Alpine Canada criteria and quotas.

Who should attend?


Campers come from all over the US and Canada.  Only experienced ski racers, 2nd year JIIIs and older.  Athletes will be grouped by age and experience. Must be able to be responsible enough to last 3 weeks on the road.

 

 

Lodging and Meals:


Lodging is at Abisko Lodge in Methven, NZ.  Breakfast and Dinner are are included. 

 

Transportation:


All on site transportation from and to the airport, to the camp location as well as each day to the mountain will be provided.  Airfare is not included in camp prices.   Seats have been held on flights from both Albany and LA to Christchurch NZ.  They will be awarded on first come first serve basis.

6:30 am                 Depart for the mountain
7:30 am                 Get on first lift
7:45 – 9:00 am      Free Skiing or full length GS/SG session 
9:00 – 9:15 am      Break
9:30 – 11:30 am   Gate Training .
11:30 – 12:00 pm  Break – snack or lunch
12:30 - 2:30 pm     Directed  Free Skiing
2:30                       Depart
4:00 pm                 Afternoon activity / Conditioning / Video
6:30 pm                 Meeting /  Dinner
7:30 pm                 Video / ski discussion

How to register?


Camps fill up at a first come basis.  Deposit of $800 is due a minimum of 6 weeks prior to camp date. Once we receive a deposit and initial registration, we will send you the rest of the necessary paper work.
